We not only provide meals and snacks, but also a showering facility for youth in need of shower due to homelessness or other reasons, as well as a lounge space where visitors can read queer-themed books, play games, and chat.
We provide daily necessities such as underwear, socks, condoms, sanitary pads, hygiene products, and face masks. We also have various pride merchandises for queer pride available for free.
We connect LGBTIQ youth who need a place to stay with shelters or help them search for alternative housing options. We also help them seek resources necessary for self-reliance.
We provide consultation for health concerns including common colds, health check-ups, gynecological care less accessible for the youth, STI testing, and HIV/AIDS testing. When necessary, we refer the youth to LGBTIQ-friendly hospitals for treatment.
We listen to concerns about human rights violations and legal/institutional problems LGBTIQ youth face and provide legal information. For youth in need of lawyers’ assistance, we connect them with DDing Dong’s legal counsel or external pro bono lawyers.
We refer LGBTIQ youth who need help with various psychological difficulties, such as interpersonal problems, trauma, or suicidal ideation, to professional counseling services. In 2023, we appointed a dedicated counselor at DDing Dong and have been proactively providing internal counseling services.
While DDing Dong does not provide direct financial support by principle, we provide, through internal discussion, emergency living expenses for LGBTIQ youth who lack even the most basic transportation and living expenses without the safety net from family/institutions.
